Proposition 3 Provides Iron-Clad Promise of Funding for High-Demand Central Valley Projects
Hanford, Calif. – Today, Congressman David G. Valadao endorsed Proposition 3, known as the California Water Infrastructure and Watershed Conservation Bond Initiative.
“I am proud to support Proposition 3 and help lead the charge to bring real investment to improve and strengthen our water infrastructure in the Central Valley,” Congressman Valadao said. “Rather than deliver another unfulfilled promise, Proposition 3 actually guarantees full, direct funding to improve water infrastructure, such as restoring capacity on the Friant-Kern Canal lost due to drought-driven subsidence.”
Proposition 3 is a qualified ballot initiative and will appear on the November 2018 ballot for California voters.
Among other high-need projects in California, Proposition 3 will provide $750 million in funding for the Friant-Kern Canal and other critical San Joaquin Valley water conveyance projects. The Friant-Kern Canal, which spans from Friant Dam to Kern County, provides critical water supply to farms and communities across the 21st Congressional District. Prop. 3 would fund projects to restore capacity on the Friant-Kern Canal lost due to drought-driven subsidence.
